We are officially operational on our first pad in the United States!
Forgive me for this long, sappy and personal post. I’m just so grateful and proud to be doing something I love. Alongside colleagues, childhood friends, family and clients that I love.
Like many others, my childhood was traumatic and filled with anger, angst and pain. For some reason, I still woke up every morning with this unexplainable rage inside of me to work harder and prove everyone wrong. Often the anxiety was (still is) overwhelming and alienates those closest to me. I couldn’t move fast enough or work hard enough. Nothing was ever enough. I wanted to show the world they should never have doubted or hurt me. My teenage angst lead me to quit school early, work multiple jobs and eventually headed north to the oil patch. There I found the opportunity I was looking for. The tough people and remote setting allowed me to mature into the man I am today. Oilfield became my passion and coping mechanism to navigate life’s journey.
In the fall of 2013, at 28 years old, we founded Skyline Well Testing Inc with my brother Calen McNeil and childhood best friend Ryan William. Hard to believe how far we’ve come in less than six years. Most people will never know or understand the trials, tribulations and sacrifice that went into building our business from scratch. We didn’t have money, credit and had no idea what we were doing. Never mind the fact we founded Skyline Well Testing at the very beginning of a historic downturn. We have grown from one separator to fifty in less than six years. More importantly we have built an army of like minded partners and teammates sharing our dream.
There is nothing proprietary in well testing. It’s about people, it’s about culture and not putting profits ahead of integrity. I truly believe our homegrown, family owned service company and all our staff at every level can compete against any company in the world. If there’s a will, there’s a way and we embody this at Skyline.
Everyday is still a struggle, personally and professionally. I wouldn’t change any of it for the world. This industry has the best people and the purest form of opportunity for those in need of it.
Special thanks to my wife and best friend Julie Meiklem. Skyline and I owe you everything.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all our haters, supporters, staff, clients and lenders for believing in a young damaged boys dream. We’re just getting started!
